Today the Belfast Giants announced that they have signed 24 year old Canadian winger Andrew Fournier.

From the EIHL website:

The high scoring winger is a former teammate of Darryl Lloyd and Will Colbert and hails from Amherstview, Ontario.  Fournier is a proven scorer who scored over 70 points twice in the East Coast Hockey League.  He had his best ECHL season in 2010-11, when he finished 3rd in the league in goals helping the Kalamazoo K-Wings to the ECHL Finals.  Fournier is another Giants player who has worn the captain’s ‘C’ on his jersey in the past when he captained the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League in 2007-08.

Fournier clearly knows how to score at the pro level, having also scored 27 goals and 53 points in 40 games in the Swedish Division 1 this past season.  That he was also successful in the ECHL, a highly comparable league to the EIHL, can only bode well for the consistently competitive Giants.  They were Elite League Regular Season Champions for the 2011-12 season.
