The EIHL Marketing Problem

Over at Paul Wheeler’s terrific Chasing Dragons blog, the Coventry Blaze play-by-play guy has published a very interesting article concerning the state of British ice hockey with regards to the media and how they interact with their devoted fanbase, or in many cases, how they don’t.

Whilst we here at Ice Nation UK don’t specifically cover much EIHL news or issues, we have done from time to time and the health of the sport in the UK is something we’re hoping will continue to improve.  Matters such as those that Paul outlines in his post are particularly galling to read at a time when social media makes it easier than ever to gain a following, and much of the EIHL establishment appear to be shooting themselves in the foot (feet?) over a phenomenon that almost every business worth knowing about around the world has embraced.
