David Nonis, Coaching Staff Fired in Toronto

Everyone knew that there would be big changes coming to the struggling Toronto Maple Leafs, especially after Brendan Shanahan stepped in as team President last season. Well, now the changes have been made at the front office and within the coaching staff as former GM David Nonis and interim coach Peter Horachek were relieved of their duties. Assistant coaches Steve Spott and Chris Dennis, and goalie coach Rick St. Croix were also relieved of their duties. Steve Staios will return next season to his previous role as manager of player development. Assistant GM Kyle Dubas and director of player personnel Mark Hunter will step up as interim coaches while Shanahan begins his search for permanent replacements.

Horachek replaced Randy Carlyle as coach back in January, 40 games into the season when Toronto was in fourth place in the Atlantic Division with a 21-16-3 record.
